Walk into Marufuku Ramen on Festival Plaza Drive most weeknights this August and you'll wait for a table. Drive ten minutes to the corner of Sahara Avenue and the 215 Beltway and you'll find a fenced lot, painted plywood, and a sign for a gym that has not yet opened.
The openings and project updates offer a snapshot of what is already operating in Summerlin and what remains underway.
Recent Restaurant Openings in Summerlin
Marufuku Ramen took over the space on Festival Plaza Drive that SkinnyFats used to occupy, and it opened its doors in early February, the second Las Vegas Valley location for the San Francisco ramen shop that debuted at The Bend in the southwest part of the valley a year earlier. As News 3 Las Vegas reported, co-founder Eiichi Mochizuki described the new spot as bringing guests "the full Marufuku experience with kushiyaki, cocktails, and an outdoor patio".
In March, two more concepts opened across town. Tacos 1986 and For The Win, both Los Angeles imports, opened inside The Neighborhood Food Hall at The Resort at Summerlin on Rampart Boulevard. Tacos 1986 held its grand opening on Tuesday, March 17, with a mariachi band and free tacos for the first 100 people in line. For The Win followed two days later with a free burger giveaway for the first 500 guests.
Municipal Gym Project Timeline
Back in November 2024, Howard Hughes Holdings announced that Mark Wahlberg's Municipal Gym would take over the old Bed Bath & Beyond space at Sahara and the 215, spanning more than 30,000 square feet with a juice bar, recovery rooms, and cryotherapy. The lease announcement said the gym was expected to open by 2026.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Wahlberg posted a video in February 2026 of himself swinging a sledgehammer at the site, captioned: "I told you, all we do is work. It's official, baby. This is the groundbreaking for the Municipal Gym."
By April, a Las Vegas Review-Journal photographer found permits pulled and signage on the building, but no open doors. The gym's own website had shifted its language from "by 2026" to simply "late this year." The timeline is:

The Ballpark Already Settled Its Own Suspense
Las Vegas Ballpark offers a different reason to follow the August calendar, even for anyone who treats the month as a tense countdown to the postseason. This year, there's no countdown. The Aviators have already clinched a spot in the 2026 Pacific Coast League playoffs, entering the stretch at 72-54 overall. The drama that usually defines a Triple-A August, whether the team will make it, resolved itself before the month even started.
What's left instead is a run of specific, low-stakes reasons to show up. August brings three separate home series to Las Vegas Ballpark, anchored by a 12-game homestand against Tacoma and Sacramento that opened August 4 and runs through August 16. The first week already delivered a postgame fireworks show on August 7 and a Mr. Beast Aviators socks giveaway on August 8. Upcoming home-game highlights include:
- Friday, August 14: Raiders/Aviators branded jersey night
- Saturday, August 15: Nick Kurtz bobble card giveaway
- Wednesday, August 26: another Bark on the Berm night, during a later series
Regular season home games run through September 13, and the Aviators are slated to host the PCL Championship Series the week of September 22 at Las Vegas Ballpark. For a neighborhood built around a Triple-A stadium, this is about as relaxed as an August gets. Nobody's watching a magic number. Everybody's just picking which giveaway night still works with their schedule.
Recurring Events and Community Amenities
Not everything worth doing in Summerlin this month got announced with a lease signing or an Instagram video. Fitness on The Lawn, sponsored by GHOST, runs every Tuesday at 7 p.m. through September 30, rotating through classes from Trufusion, Pure Barre, lululemon, and Fit4Mom. It's been happening on the same schedule all summer, no fanfare required. Saturday mornings still bring a produce and vendor market to The Pavilion, the same low-key routine it's followed for years.
The Pavilion Center Pool Complex added an Olympic-sized pool as part of an $18.9 million expansion, and it's already in use.

Upcoming Dates On The Calendar
Two upcoming items are on the calendar. Downtown Summerlin's monument sign near Whole Foods, the one bringing the shopping center's updated logo to the intersection of Town Center Drive and Sahara Avenue, is under construction now with an expected completion date of October 2.
The Summerlin Festival of Arts returns for its 30th year, October 9 through 11, at The Lawn at Downtown Summerlin, with more than 100 fine artists selected by a panel of experts and a full slate of children's activities.
